LIPA at AALL

Going to Chicago for AALL?  Join us for the LIPA annual business meeting on Sunday, July 17 from 12:30 – 2:00 pm, Hyatt, Michigan AB (East Tower). In addition to the business portion of our meeting, there will be presentations by Abbie Grotke, Lead Information Technology Specialist on the Library of Congress Web Archiving Team, and Andrew Weber, Legislative Information Systems Manager in the Law Library of Congress. Abbie will present on web archiving generally at the Library of Congress and relevant collaborative projects such as the International Internet Preservation Consortium (IIPC) and the web archiving survey. Andrew will talk about the Law Library’s role in web archiving and the collections that are being archived.

Anyone interested in preservation and the work of the Legal Information Preservation Alliance is welcome to attend the meeting.

And don’t forget to visit us in the Exhibit Hall at Booth #819!

Preservation Tip for July

Does your library have microfiche or microfilm collections? Microforms can themselves be stable, low-maintenance formats for preserving information, but they do have some distinct needs for proper storage, handling, and disaster planning. The NEDCC provides a

leaflet with helpful guidelines.

Preservation Tip for June

Memorial Day marks the unofficial start of summer. And to those of us on the east coast it also means we should start to prepare for hurricane season. With that in mind, the Preservation Committee is sharing dPlan™: The Online Disaster-Planning Tool. This tool is a free, online template for writing a customized disaster plan at your institution.
